GACL Powers Up: A ₹67 Crore Leap into Semiconductor Chemicals

State-owned Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) has approved the establishment of a 5,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) high-purity hydrogen peroxide plant at Dahej in South Gujarat, marking the company's entry into a specialized segment serving the semiconductor and solar manufacturing industries.

The project, approved by GACL’s board of directors, will involve an investment of approximately ₹67 crore. The facility will produce electronic-grade hydrogen peroxide, a critical chemical used in semiconductor fabrication, solar cell production, and other advanced electronics manufacturing processes.

The investment comes amid rising domestic demand for high-purity chemicals as India strengthens its semiconductor ecosystem and expands its clean energy manufacturing capabilities. The proposed plant is expected to cater to the growing requirements of semiconductor fabs, solar cell manufacturers, and other high-technology industries.

According to the company, the project aligns with the increasing number of semiconductor and electronics manufacturing facilities being established across the country. By producing high-purity hydrogen peroxide locally, GACL aims to support India's efforts to build a self-reliant supply chain for critical materials while expanding its footprint in the value-added specialty chemicals segment.

The Dahej facility is expected to play a key role in supporting India's broader ambitions of becoming a global hub for electronics and advanced manufacturing.
